Best Plus Size Activewear That Actually Fits Amazing

One of the most common myths that plague the plus-size community – that plus-size people do not exercise or move at all. This is such a horrible assumption that couldn’t be further from the truth. Higher body weight can come from a million different reasons, not just a lack of physical activity. This myth has had terrible consequences not only on us emotionally, but also in the fashion industry. Have you ever seen the Olympics, specifically the women’s shot put and weight lifting? These people are large, strong, muscular, thick, and healthy.

I could write an entire 10-page essay on this assumption alone but I will end it there… Finding well-fitting plus size workout clothes is nearly impossible, especially when it comes to brand names. Name brand companies have a very long history of not creating clothing in bigger sizes, and when they do they never fit quite right. With the recent news of Lululemon releasing ‘extended sizes’ up to a size 20 just further proves this. Below I am sharing some of my favorite plus size activewear that ACTUALLY fits amazing.

FILA Exclusive Dia & Co. Collaboration

When I learned of this collaboration I was immediately excited. Finally, cute name brand workout clothes in plus sizes! They created an exclusive collection with Dia & Co with sizes from 1X – 5X! I was able to get my hands on the collection when it first dropped and boy oh boy was I surprised! The quality of the pieces was what you would expect from an established brand like FILA, and the best part… IT FIT LIKE A DREAM! I sized up in the bottoms like I normally have to do and I could have easily went with my normal size. The entire line is cut generously and made with curves in mind.

Lane Bryant Livi Active

Lane Bryant has always been a brand I can depend on. For my entire life, they have been a brand I can rely on for great fitting clothes, sleepwear, bras, underwear, jeans, and activewear. One of the best parts of their activewear is the selection of sizes, they offer petite and long sizing which means finding the perfect fit for you! I am a big fan of their Yoga Pants and Capri Power Leggings! Their sizing goes up to a 26/28.

Walmart

Hear me out on this one before you judge – Walmart has thousands of options online and usually around 30-60 in store. Walmart’s clothing has often been overlooked and looked down upon, but their basics and activewear are pretty solid! It is a great way to start if you’re new to exercise and don’t want to spend a fortune. If you’re a yoyo-er like me it’s a great way to not break the bank on clothes you may grow out of within a few months. Their sizing offering is great, with sizes up to a 5X. I usually size up in Walmart’s athletic pants.

Amazon

Amazon can be very hit or miss but the selection is unbeatable with some very affordable prices. I have purchased a few yoga pants that have fit wonderfully, and some not so great leggings that I have returned. Of course, the biggest advantage is their two-day shipping and generous return policy. The zero-risk policy makes trying many different styles and sizes easy, all from the comfort of your home!

Fabletics

Fabletics is an honorable mention on my list due to the amazing reviews I have seen from my fellow plus size babes. I must say I have not tried their activewear myself but there are thousands of plus-size bloggers who wear by their stuff! They a decent size range up to a 4X and claim their leggings have amazing stretch. The biggest advantage is their styles, they have hundreds of colors and patterns to choose from. Their styles are very appealing and I love all the bright, bold colors!
